Pictures from Karate Demos

Here are some pictures that were taken during the two demos that I participated in over the last few weeks. There is a picture in the second one where I look like i'm sneezing. They actually turned out quite well. If you have more time check out my schools website.

If you've come across this blog...

If you have been following this blog you can see that I'm not much of a literary Journalist. I guess the reason I am even doing this is to keep some sort of record of things that I find interesting or might want to share with other people. It seems rather self indulgent to carry on about a bunch of stuff that might or might not really matter. The grammar and syntax will constantly be incorrect and expect a myriad of spelling errors. Who really cares anyway?

Life can get a bit stressful at times and I have found this as a healthy way of feeding my inner A.D.D. child. Rather then spending time ranting about how much some one or something sucks, I hope this blog serves its purpose of sharing a tiny bit of myself with the rest of the world. Enjoy!

YOU GO Bindi Sue!

YOU GO Bindi Sue!

This kid is a testament to how great her father was,
she probably is going to take over for her dad! Crikey!

New Goldfish!

I am now the proud parent of three goldfish and four of thier offspring. Haven't named them yet due to the fact that it seems pointless to name a pet when it wont come when you call it. They were in this backyard pond where the water was so thick it was difficult to catch them with a net. There are perks to being fed twice a day rather than waiting for the periodic mosqito or bug to land on the water.

They have this rich orange color to them that is quite striking, possibly due to the environmental conditions in the pond. My other two feeder goldfish are not quite as orange.
I hope they are happy in thier new home.

Karate Demo Weekend

This past weekend I was involved in two public demonstrations. I felt confident that things would go well, but there was a little bit of heasitation the back of my mind that somthing might go wrong. It's been quite a while since i've done anything in front of a large crowd of people.

The first demo was at Schmurbush Park on Conklin Rd, in Conklin NY. Aside from a bit of rain and some mud, things went extremely well. I recived my first chance to break a board in a demonstration. I have to admit I was a bit nervous. When my turn came, Ipunched straight through it. Later I proceeded to break one of the broken halves again with a ridge hand. (It was alot of fun.)

The second demo was Demonstrating for the Broome County Employees Picnic at Greenwood Park way out near the Binghamton Airport. We decided not to perform any defensive throws for there was goose poop everywhere as the area we were in was right next to a pond. Itwould be really nasty should somone accidentally or purposely take a spill. I had put together a kata or coreagraphed battle for the demonstration based on my weapon expereince. My sai kata went well, and we used bamboo swords called shini for a group exercise.

Overall the experiences of the last two days were enjoyable and wound up as good practice. I felt that I had done reasonably well but need to improve some things in mind for the next demonstration. Should I enter a tournament or perform again someday in the future, I will have some idea of what to expect when it comes to public events.

Pirates

I visited the Pirate Museum in Salem Mass, a week or so ago.
Blackbeard bears an uncanny resemblance to Rob Zombie...
You be the judge.

Goodbye Steve

Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter was killed in a tragic accident while filming stingrays this past week. I really enjoyed his show and all the amazing things that he showed us. Goodbye Steve, thanks for the memories.
We will miss you.
